![]() Horse Improvement Program - Annual Report is produced by the Administrators of the program, The Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association (OHRIA). The Horse Improvement Program remains the envy of other jurisdictions, and continues to grow. The year 2003 saw a record 2,951 standardbred yearlings nominated to the Ontario Sires Stakes Program, an increase of 3 percent over 2002 levels. In 2003 the Program was vauled at $51.9 million. The success of the Horse Improvement Program continues to be evidenced by the performance of our horses on a world-wide stage, and by the number of records broken each year. Performance measures such as number of stallions, nominated and sustained horses, and yearling sales statistics are included in this report. These measures will assist in our review of the 2003 program and serve as a guide to develop measures for the 2004 performance. A program such as the Horse Improvement Program requires a team effort to succeed. The OHRIA Board of Directors would like to thank the Ontario Racing Commission, our government partners, and the OHRIA staff and volunteers who contribute to the success of the program. | |||||||
