Equine GuelphOHRIA currently gives 1% of the Horse Improvement Program levies to the equine health and well being of horses. The research is vital to the veterinarian community for the continued advancement of equine health and welfare. By supporting the research on equine health and the racing industry, OHRIA is able to supply its members with new information, for the continued growth and well being of the industry. Biosecurity and Horse Health CommitteeOHRIA has a Biosecurity and Horse Health Committe with representatives from the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency, Ontario Veterinarian College, Ontario Racing Commission, University of Guelph, horse breeders and horsepeople. The committee, chaired by Dr. Bob Wright, equine specialist for the Ontario Minisry of Agriculture and Food (OMAF)is focused on developing protocols and prevention strategies for disease control.
