TORONTO, - The Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association (OHRIA) is pleased to announce that Hector Clouthier is their new Executive Director.

Mr. Clouthier has a varied career in business, politics and horse racing. He is currently President and C.E.O. of Hector Clouthier Consulting Ltd. He is a former Vice-President of Hec Clouthier & Sons Inc. a well known lumbering firm in the Ottawa Valley, a former Federal Member of Parliament and former Special Advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office. Mr. Clouthier currently holds a professional harness horse driver’s license and has received the Ambassador’s Award for distinguished service to the horse racing industry.

OHRIA is the representative organization for the horse racing and breeding industry. An industry which is the second largest agricultural sector in Ontario, generates over 60,000 jobs and the industry’s GDP contribution for direct activities was $738 million in 2003 over 22. % of the total GDP of agriculture in Ontario.

Mr. Clouthier said “I’m delighted, excited and pleased to have this opportunity to be a part of an industry that I have a definite passion for…horse racing”

Mr. Clouthier concluded by saying “with all stake holders working together for the common good our sport will flourish and our future will be bright and prosperous for one and all.”
